Library Volunteer Policy--a Person under 18
APPROVED: BOS
Date: April, 1999, Revised by Advisory 4/01
Section: 2800a

The Mohave County Library District recognizes the value of youth doing volunteer work. We would like to help them earn scout badges, get credit for community service work, or simply learn a new skill. They will be expected to comply with the same guidelines as adult volunteers. In addition, these procedures must be followed:

1. County liability requires that written permission must be obtained from a parent or legal guardian.

a. If the youth volunteer is working on a group-sponsored project, the group leader will be expected to obtain the required permission and accept liability under their group insurance. This must be verified in writing.

b. If the youth volunteer is volunteering on his/her own, a release form must be signed by a parent or legal guardian.

2. A youth requesting volunteer work will be provided an application, a copy of the volunteer policy, and a release form.

3. Any scheduling of work hours must be approved by the appropriate library supervisor.
