Circulation Privileges Policy

Branch Librarians and Community Library Coordinators within the District will follow a standardized circulation policy in regard to the length of time materials can be borrowed and the number of items that can be checked out per circulation.
 

Length of time materials can be borrowed:

General collection, new nonfiction and large type - 3 weeks

New fiction less than 200 pages - 1 week

New fiction 200-399 pages - 2 weeks

New fiction more than 400 pages - 3 weeks

Children's Encyclopedias 3 weeks

Audio cassettes &CD's - 3 weeks

Video cassettes &DVDs - 1 week

Instructional Video cassettes - 3 weeks

Pamphlet files (Vertical File) - 1 week

Periodicals - 2 weeks

Reference - does not circulate
 

Number of items that can be checked out per circulation: 
(Customers are asked not to take more materials than they can reasonably handle during the checkout period and not to take more than three titles on any one topic or by any one author.)

General collection - customer's judgment

Same Dewey number - 3 max

New Books - 3 max

Audio cassettes and Compact Disks - 5 titles

Video cassettes and DVDs - 5 titles

Pamphlet files (Vertical File) - no limit

Periodicals - no limit
 

At the discretion of the Branch Librarian/Community Library Coordinator, reduced copying may be offered for copies from library owned, non-circulating materials. For example, the first four (4) pages of materials will be free and subsequent pages will be $.15 per copy.  Books will not be dated to be due for return on any day the library is closed.  If overdue materials are returned to a non-lending library, the customer shall pay the overdue at the location where the materials are returned. The receiving library will return the materials to the lending library.
