Donations of Money and Goods Policy will be used to evaluate artwork offered to district libraries as
a donation.
2. The purpose of the Library District is to meet the needs of
Mohave County citizens for informational, educational and
recreational materials in a form that can be used and understood.
In addition, it is a goal of the library to maintain an

information that can be viewed in the library, and
2) to enhance the library environment.
3. Artwork offered as
a donation to the Mohave County Library District will be evaluated
by a committee of not more than five (5) individuals appointed by
the local Librarian to serve on an as needed basis. The committee
will make recommendations to the Librarian as regards acceptance
or non-acceptance of works offered. Committee members whose
artwork is under consideration will excuse themselves from the
committee . Committee members may be requested to assist in
placement and display of accepted art work.
4. As with all library donations, final acceptance rests with
the Library District Board of Directors upon recommendation by the
Advisory committee. Authority to accept gifts given by an
individual or group during a fiscal year period that are valued at
$1,000 or less is transferred by the Board of the District Library
Director. The Director may delegate authority for the acceptance
of gifts valued at $500 or less to local librarians.
5. All art donations become the property of the Library
District unless otherwise approved by the Board. The District
reserves the right to make retention decision and to dispose of
unwanted items that are deemed by the committee to be
inappropriate for library display or have outlived their
usefulness to the District. Any item accepted as part of the
district's permanent collection may be reevaluated every seven (7)
years by the Art review committee to determine its suitability for
continuation in the collection.
6. Criteria for acceptance of art work by the library will
include:
a. The library will accept only such obligations as can be
carried out in accordance with the purpose of the donor and the
purpose and policy of the library.
b. When deciding the recommendation to make as regards the
acceptance of donated art work the committee will consider:

well presented (i.e., proper framing, undamaged, etc.). If
repair/renovations work is required, who will be responsible for
costs?

How does the work relate to its setting? Is the work
harmonious with the library in color, line and form? Is there
proper space in the library for display of the work? Will the
work relate to the space in which it is to be placed?
Will the design and subject matter of the work appeal to the
broad group of people that make up the library public which
includes all age groups?
Is the workmanship of the piece of sufficient quality that it
will be durable for the life of the object?
