We welcome your
donation. Mohave County Library District appreciates the
generosity shown by Mohave County residents towards our
libraries. We encourage donations of money, goods, and
volunteer time as a way of enhancing and extending basic
library services paid for by citizens through the district's
secondary tax.
Because we value citizen contributions to the
library, we want to be sure that all gifts fulfill the will of
the donor and comply with library goals, objectives, policies,
and procedures. If you want to find out how your donation can
make a difference contact the librarian at your local
library.
OUR
DONATION POLICIES
- Acceptance of all
gifts of money or goods to any of the District's libraries
must be approved by the District Library Board of Directors
upon recommendation by the Advisory Committee. Authority
for such acceptance may be delegated.
- Gifts of materials
for the library's collection must meet the same selection
criteria established for the purchase of new materials.
Donated items not selected for the collection will be
returned to the donor if requested or included in a Library
Book sale to raise funds for new purchases.
- All gifts of money
and goods become the property of the Library District unless
otherwise approved by the Board. The District reserves the
right to make retention decision, to dispose of unwanted
items or items that have outlived their usefulness to the
District, and will set processing priorities after receiving
the gift unless otherwise approved by the board.
- The library staff can
not be responsible for assessing the monetary value of
gifts. Donors needing an appraisal of the value of their
gifts for tax purposes should secure an appraisal from an
qualified appraiser. A donation receipt form will be given
to donors upon request. Donations may be tax deductible, as
permitted by the I.R.S.
- Donor files will be maintained by the District, but will not be sold or shared with other
individuals, groups, or organizations.
